How to get a better sleep in your hotel room

There’s nothing worse than travelling for work or pleasure and booking a nice hotel, only to find you can’t sleep in it! From noise to unfamiliar settings, there are so many factors that can compromise a good night’s sleep. So here’s how we fix things.

Choose the right hotel

So choose your accommodation carefully, with the broader goals of your stay in mind. For most people, this will include a great night’s sleep that sets them up for a fantastic day ahead.

Adjust the temperature

When you get into your hotel room, turn the temperature down. Often, hotels are on the warm side and you’ll find that an elevated room temperature may keep you feeling too warm in bed. An hour beforehand, turn it right down and have a lovely hot and relaxing bath before getting into a warm bed. Look for the extra duvet or blanket that is typically folded in the wardrobe, or ask reception for one.

Practice good sleep hygiene

Try to eat your last meal at least three hours before you go to bed, limit blue screens for an hour beforehand, read a little, and drink a caffeine-free drink, and light a relaxing travel candle. These will all help you to drift off and make the most of that lovely hotel bed.
