Why you should consider an oak garage

Oak garages are a great investment that has long term benefits but can add value to your property over time too, with a little tender loving care. They are a stylish and durable addition to any home and offer a range of custom features such as: glazing, triple glazing, insulation and high quality doors and windows. You can create a stylishly classic or contemporary look, depending on your individual tastes and needs. Oak garages, like those from Timberpride, are made from this hardwood tree which has a lengthy history in Britain.

There are many advantages to erecting an oak garage, the main being that they add character and warmth to a property, whilst protecting your vehicle from the elements and giving you extra space for storage and workshop use. They were built for the sole purpose of providing extra roof space which would have been impossible to achieve elsewhere so their distinctive design has survived to this day where it is known to be the tallest garage in England. Oak is a dense hardwood and has natural anti-fungal properties that make it resistant to rot and insect damage and therefore requires very little maintenance.

Most garage manufacturers will offer different styles of oak for their products, and if you are looking for something truly unique you may have to source your own materials, as there is no hard and fast rule about what species of oak should be used for garage construction. You can find all the parts you need for a basic garage in kit form at most hardware stores, and if you are looking for more ornate designs and precision joinery you will usually have to work with a local craftsman who has experience in building oak garages.

The best thing about oak is that you can use it for just about anything; just paint it if you want an antique look or leave it in its natural state for a more modern design. Whatever you do though, don’t cut corners on the oak. You are going to pay dearly for a garage made from oak – trust me.
