What exactly is ‘business casual’?

There is a very line between a smart look and appearing completely overdressed, with the work environment one of the most difficult to get right. Thank goodness for the introduction of ‘business casual’, which will often save the day. It is the kind of style that you will often see men wearing whilst they are enjoying the hospitality in the F1 Paddock Club Monaco or any other F1 location that you can find at  https://edgeglobalevents.com/f1-paddock-club/f1-paddock-club-monaco/, perhaps for a corporate event or lads day out.

Let’s take a look at how you can hit just the right note with your work wardrobe this year.

Blazers and knits

According to the fashion experts at GQ magazine, navy blazers are a staple of the dapper gentlemen’s wardrobe and have been for more than 200 years. You will see both businessmen and rappers wearing them because they are so versatile.

You can rock the business casual look by combining a blazer with a stylish shirt. Add jeans, chinos, or more formal trousers if you are attending an important meeting. Finish the look off with brogues or desert boots.

When you wave goodbye to the summer, the drop in temperature gives you an opportunity for another version of the business casual look by switching your formal shirt for a textured T-shirt or knitted polo shirt. The colour will need to complement your suit and it must look smart when you take off your jacket. Keeping the jacket on will give a more formal look, which may be best for important meetings.

Trousers and accessories

You need to ditch the formal suit trousers to truly achieve the business casual look, so what do you replace them with? Standard jeans may not be acceptable in some working environments, but indigo jeans can work well in most offices. You could also opt for chinos, which offer a softer and less structured look than tailored trousers and are perfect for the business casual look. They go with just about everything, from shirts through to polos. You could even try rolling up the hem and going for the up-to-the-minute sockless look.

Don’t leave home without thinking about your accessories. A stylish pair of formal shoes is great for this look but plimsolls are simply not appropriate in work environments. You will probably get away with desert boots or Chelsea boots in addition to brogues and loafers. Finish off the look with a pocket square in the top pocket of your blazer and a flash of colour from your socks.
